SketchUP: Creating a throne

In today's SketchUp session, we looked at putting the features we learnt last week into practice including the push and pull tool along with the follow me tool, showing us how we could potentially use this software to not only create plans but also props.

We started off by making a basic outline of a seat, extending the sides and then adding a back and warping it to make it more appealing to the viewer. We then used the polygon tool to create the arm wrests on both sides, snapping all 3 sides of the rectangle using the follow me tool to create the final design. We then created our own spiral shape using the same features and duplicated them, reversing it to create a mirror image. Once we had the two spirals, we made them into one component and moved it to the top of the throne to make it look more imperial and royal. Finally we added a model person from the 3d warehouse into our individual designs to not only show scale but also how the seat would look in use. We worked in the scale of 1:50 using mm.

I will be using similar features when using SketchUp in the future for my own individual projects alongside the course.
