During this Sketchup session, we began to look at the follow me tool- a tool for complex modelling which can make a shape follow along a set path. To start with using the pencil tool, we drew a straight line, adding a circle at the front. Then using the follow me tool we highlighted the circle and dragged it along the line to create the abstract, unusual shape.
As we got more experienced with the tool, we began to create our own goblets and water fountains- objects that can be easily made with this tool. I found this a great feature to learn and it will come in extremely useful when creating future SketchUp designs as I will be able to make props and detailed intricate elements without importing them from the 3D warehouse. I feel this would be a useful tool to learn for all new SketchUp beginners and once you have the hang of it it's fairly easy to use.
However one thing I found while carrying this out was that sometimes the lines/circles were not always perpendicular to the green axis and therefore the circle shape would become more oval. To correct this I had to make sure the shapes were in line with the axis.
