One movie genre I absolutely love is horror and this film did not disappoint! It was full of jump-scares and plot twists and some elements of horror I had not seen before. I feel that if you love horror this is definitely the film for you!
After viewing this film at the cinema, my friends and I were left speechless. Just as you thought the film was about to end Maurice reaches for her hand and comes back to life. However, I do feel this film appeared more scary watching it on the big screen as it engulfs the room compared to a smaller screen at home. However, having said that I did enjoy this film.
The film has many mixed reviews one of which being that not enough detective work was involved other than a librarian helping them find one of the most powerful demonic creatures which I do agree is questionable as the film should have delved deeper into the plan to find the demon as it almost feels the characters walked straight into the correct answer appearing slightly rushed.
However, Farmiga is the best part of the film, with her performance as Irene presenting nuance and development. Where Irene was timid in the first movie, she now knows her power, and Farmiga brings a level of suspense to the film even as she encounters threats and traumatic memories at every turn. I was really fond of her character as I feel she added an element of real life and empathy to the film, breaking up the horror and thriller of the demonic creature and storyline.
