After watching the film The Devil, I couldn't help but be left confused by the events portrayed on screen and how 'The Devils' is intended to be confused with real-life events and people. The film's take on the relationship between sex and religion is eye-opening suggesting a whole new outtake on the catholic religion.
Along with Russell's cinematic style and extravagant staging as well as performance, he can blend these techniques to communicate ideas and emotions in a confrontational manner. He uncovers the normalised and accepted institutions of abuse associated with the religion and dives in deeper to reveal the truth.
Overall I really enjoyed watching this film as it left me in shock with a lot of unanswered questions making me want to dive in and research further the background origin of the religion and how it has been portrayed as evil.
