This project required us to work quickly and efficiently due to the quick turn around of tasks over a 3 week period. The first week consisted of location surveying and drafting the Nottingham Arboretum Lodge followed by the tech drawing and white card model and then finally the visual in week 3.
I found this process extremely difficult as it was almost trial and error to determine the correct measurements. It also involved measuring and counting bricks to find the precise length.
This was the technical drawing process and adding details along with textures. After the measurements were collected I found this enjoyable as I loved seeing the drawing come to life. However, one thing I would consider for next time is the line weights to distinguish between the different parts of the building.
I was really happy with the overall finished drawing.
The process of creating the model was extremely challenging and intricate, especially the bay windows. If I was to create the model again, some thing I would change would be the chimney as I made it far too wide compared to the tech drawing and real life existing buildings along with laser cutting the buildings to make them appear neater.
I then began my research for my visual collecting images of bombed houses during WW2 as inspiration for my own bombed house in line with the brief.
I decided that I wanted to have a stark contrast of red colour to make it pop against the flames and therefore I chose to include a red fire engine.
This was my overall finished visual which I was really happy with however, from my feedback some suggestions were to make sure the flames are in scale with the rest of the drawing as well as making it look like more of the house has been bombed.
